The all new Fiat 500
It has emerged that those who own a Fiat 500 now drive the 2009 Design Car of the year. This is according to experts in the sector who declared the model as the winner of this year’s prize at the New York International Motor Show. The Fiat 500 was the finalist alongside the Jaguar XF and the Citroen C5 but in due course was given the first place.
Judges included Tom Matano, who is the executive director of the School of Industrial Design at San Francisco’s Academy of Art. Fiat Head of design Roberto Giolito said that the company was “proud” to receive such an honour.
The Fiat 500 is available in three different sizes including one diesel for European Car Insurance customers who prefer this option. Roberto said that “Further endorsements of Fiat’s commitment to creating attractive, innovative cars which express the best of the Italian manufacturing capability”.
In summer this year, a convertible version is scheduled to hit the market.
